Works great. Was hoping it would be a bit smaller to fit where the old one went. Had to retro fit a new holding mount for it as it was a bit bigger than the original. But it works.
in look as describe , easy to install and work great old old pedestal fan, ready for the summer working in shop, thanks
Honestly, have not installed it yet because it's for my attic fan and it's not hot right now. I know, better do it now then when it gets to be 120 F in my attic. I'm sure it will work fine.
Great product, great price and fast shipping.
used it for a fan

Description

SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE MAXRUN 80/5 MFD

The capacitor is 2 3/8" in diameter by 5 1/8" in height - Please check your specifications carefully.

This Capacitor is rated for 440 Volts which means it will work at 370 or 440 VAC. It will also run from -40 C. to +70 C. It is safety rated at 10,000 AFC.

A dual run capacitor, such as this 80+5, combines two capacitors into one unit. It will power a compressor motor and a fan motor, and has three terminals on the top. They are labeled "Herm" for the compressor motor, "Fan" for the fan, and "C" for the common line.

Run Capacitors work hand in hand with Electric Motors that power the compressors and condensers that make air conditioning work. For this purpose, the Capacitor works the same way as a battery. It stores and releases a large charge very quickly. This released charge gives the motor the spin it needs to start and run correctly.

As Air Conditioning Capacitors age, they lose their ability to hold a charge and get weaker.

As the capacitor gets older, the motor may get louder and seem to run slower. If replaced before they get weaker, its possible to lengthen the life of the motor. Eventually, the capacitor will get too weak to start the motor and if the motor can't start, it can short out. Timely replacement of the capacitor is essential to Air Conditioning Maintenance.

SAFETY TIPS FOR REPLACEMENT

When replacing a capacitor always be sure to turn off the power to the air conditioning unit and place a screw driver between the terminals of the capacitor to release any stored charge. MaxRun Capacitors are designed to be the correct fit, but it's best to measure the height and width of the capacitor to double check that the replacement unit matches the original. We also recommend keeping a spare so you have one handy when it's needed.

This worked for my problem. Found my fan wasn't able to start spinning on its own. I would just creep an inch or so before stopping again. I did some research and found that the capacitor might be the problem. Bought it, replaced it, and it worked. Fan spins up and AC is now blowing cold.

I'm not AC certified, but this was an easy replacement. I just followed safety procedures and had the job done in minutes.
The box containing the "New" product and been violated. The top lid had been torn open prior.
That alone raised my suspicion as to the quality of the so called new product. But I forged ahead
hoping for the best. So I overlooked that detail and plugged it into my AC unit anyways. Then
poof a puff of smoke went up as the capacitor failed in spectacular fashion. That figures. So maybe I was
given a faulty one or a returned one? (Edited 6/5/2020) Ok All well ends well. The vendor reached out to me and refunded my money. That was very honest and caring for the customer. For that I turned my 1 star rating to a 4 star rating upon the integrity of the vendor. Maybe it was just an aberration, an anomaly. Everyone has them every now and then.
My 30-year old Payne central A/C condenser unit stopped functioning on day 1 of a triple-digit heat wave. After noticing a bulging start-run capacitor, and determining that the fan motor was still functional, it was obvious that the capacitor had died. Thanks to MAXRUN, determining the correct replacement part was a matter of a 3-min search on Amazon. The part arrived in 2 days and took all of 5 minutest to install. Voila - I had A/C once again. Thanks, MAXRUN!
