Saved some money but replacing the capacitor by myself. MY HVAC fan outside would not spin when the AC turned on. I discovered that it would work when I used a stick to "jump start" it, but it would still eventually stop after a couple of hours. Through some digging on the internet and youtube, I figured it was probably a dead capacitor. Watched some youtube videos about how to replace it and picked up this capacitor. It was relatively easy, as long as you follow all the safety precautions when working with electricity. Took about 20 minutes, and most of that was prep work (removing screws, wrapping electrical tape, etc).
The repairman mentioned that my blower motor start capacitor was getting weak after he did the annual HVAC inspection. That was 3 months ago and this past Wed, it quit working. I figured this was the problem since the blower motor wasn't running and the condenser was freezing up. I couldn't find anyone in town that sold these retail (all of them only wanted to sell to licensed HVAC professionals). I ordered it on Thurs with next day delivery and it came on Fri. Took all of 2 minutes to install, ie, turn AC breakers off, remove two wires from the old capacitor, put them on the terminals on the new capacitor, then turn the AC breakers back on.
The motor quit working. So, I took it out and discovered that it would work if I gave the shaft a spin to get it started. So, I bought this hoping it would be a good replacement for the old capacitor. As it turns out, it works just fine, and the form factor is close enough that it fits on the existing bracket. What a great little product and inexpensive too!

It would be even better if it came with a cap to cover the terminal connections, but in my case, the cap from the old capacitor fit on this one. Otherwise, you would probably want to put some shrink tubing or something over the exposed connectors.
If you don’t like the $250 the repair man wanted, this is a perfect option for the do-it-yourself type. Remember to ground out he poles before removing the old one once disconnected.
There is little to say, I recently replaced the circulation fan in our heating system and as cheap insurance (after 23 years of service) replaced the capacitor at the same time. This fit perfectly into the existing mounting bracket and works perfectly with out new motor.
