I replaced this capacitor on my AC preventatively, meaning the old was was still working. After replacing the cap, the compressor fan would not start. Yes, I got the cap value and voltage correct and yes, I wired it up correctly. After much deliberation trying to understand what could be wrong I bought another one and swapped this one with the new one. Everything worked perfectly. As a result, I conclude that this capacitor must be bad. Really, what are the chances that a brand new one from Amazon is bad? And what a waste of my time.
Recently bought a home with America Select home warranty and paid about 400$ for one year. Few months after moving in (move in Summer) we had no issues then we turned on the head in October and it worked fine until end of October then one day woke up with no heat. called insurance company they said have to pay decuctable and the HVAC guy came in Johnson HVAC Steelton Harrisburg PA. He spend somewhere between 3.5-5 minutes collected his deductable and said the switch (Safety) and the control board were bad as he was not getting any power to them. Would have to order parts by next wednesday (Trane supply store is in my town and they have the parts - when I checked) then insurance company said they will only cover upto 150$ as I did not have the annual maintanance record from the previous owners. I was looking at about 1000 dollars. Looked at over a dozen videos on youtube and decided to get a transformer 12 $ as no power was coming to the control board. Once transfomer was put, I had power tot he control board. Now I had the inducer motor come on but no gas at the furnace. The board was flashing 4 times indicating a limit switch issue. I ordered that from Trane supply for 22 dollars once that was put in (about 3 minutes to put that in). The ignition lamp came on and gas came on but we had heat. But the furnace was short cycling as the fan was not blowing. It made sense why the limit switch was bad. So stopped the furnace out of precaution to prevent a coil or other big damage and ordered a capacitor. I changed it in 7 minutes and turned on. The sequence of HVAC worked and thank god I had gas and 30 seconds later the fan started like nothing ever happened. I saved a some money and learned to trouble shoot. Thanks for all those that post videos. If I can help please reach out. Best wishes will highly recommend the fast shipping and quality of the product.
I ordered a Genteq 97F5705 capacitor, but received a different part number. The one I got was physically smaller, and a different part number- 27L570. (Pic attached.) Same specs, but not the part I ordered, and not the one described and pictured in the item description. May be a functional replacement, which is fine, but say that so customers know that they are getting something else than the item described and pictured. I returned the item and re-ordered the correct part number.
The AC blower fan smelled like burning and then stopped blowing air. I replaced the cap with this one and it started right up and works great! You can see in the photo that it’s a little shorter than the GE one that it replaced, but it has the same specs (5 mf, 370 V) and it fit in the same bracket on the blower housing.

HVAC guy wanted to charge over $700 to replace the Freon, but I knew that wasn’t the issue, that wouldn’t explain the fan motor stopping. I’m glad I tried this first and saved a lot of money. Make sure you shut off the power and discharge the cap that you are replacing so you don’t shock yourself!
My original capacitor was a GE 97F5705. The Genteq replacement part is much shorter but the electrical specifications are the same. BTW, if you are concerned, Genteq is a division of Regal-Beloit Corporation, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world. Genteq is the rebranding of Regal’s GE ECM, GE Capacitors and GE Commercial Motors divisions, which occurred in 2009. Capacitor works fine.

(Authentic review) My AC fan was struggling to start and get up to speed. I replaced the old cap with this one and now it's working great again. This was an exact replacement for the old GE 27L570 cap, exact same size, shape, contacts and specs. The only difference was the label. The picture is incorrect, the cap is a bit shorter. Actual height is 1.5 inch (without contacts) by 2 inches wide. I've only had it in for a couple days, so I can't comment on long-term reliability. So far it's working well and I'm happy with it.
It got my furnace running. I kept having problems where the blower motor wouldn't run. If I turned the shaft, I could get it to run. But then it'd fail again, eventually, usually in the cold of night. I wasted $85 to call out a furnace repair service. The repair person tried the furnace and everything worked. Said everything was working fine, took my money, and told me if it fails again, they'd waive the $85 the next time. They were thinking it might be the blower motor: which would cost hundreds to replace. I did some reading, and decided that for the price, it was worth trying to replace the capacitor on my own. It's been running just fine for months since. I think I'll make a yearly plan to replace the capacitor just as a preventative measure. Electrolytic capacitors deteriorate over time. Less than $10 a year is much cheaper than being left in the cold and dealing with "service" people.
What can I say... the fan on my HVAC system died and originally had a 3 MFD capacitor installed. The new (universal) replacement motor required a 5 MFD capacitor, and this one met the specs I needed and works. My only issue was shipping, my first padded envelope arrived with a tear on one end and no capacitor inside, so it was a warm couple of days until I got a replacement. It’s easy to install (I used cable ties to secure it to existing holes in the electrical area of the HVAC unit), just secure it and attach the wires per your motor’s diagram.
Works very well so far. Have only had it in a week. Just know that it doesn't have a polarity so that's why it's not marked.
