I bought one: the wires are too short to go from the mount location to the electrical box on the back of the unit... OK, I'll extend them.

I got it installed... Well it vibrates more than the old one... I checked the balance of the fan (using a lawn mower blade balancer), it was dead on. Well, I've seen a condenser vibrate more than this, I just want working AC right now. Start it up and let it run... Woohoo! Working AC! A few hours later, nothing, fan quit.

I contact amazon and their CS is always great, I had a second one in hand in a couple of days.

I cut off the extended wires and installed them on the new one. It vibrates too :-/ Oh well...

It runs for a day, then it quits on the hottest day of the year so far. I check it out later in the day and it starts up again. I go back and forth and determine that the thermal cutout is cutting out on it when the ambient temp gets over about 84*. Load test it, 2.0A (with the motor rated at 2.6A), well it's not overloaded, 7.5mfd capacitor tests at 7.58 (way more than close enough) using an infrared temp gun it's not getting anywhere near it's rated temp.

Well that doesn't make any sense, and 2 in a row doing the same thing.

I call Fasco 3PM on a friday about it, "we don't have any engineers this late on a friday, try calling a distributor or try again next week." I end up getting a hold of the engineer the next monday, "I don't know anything about those, we don't make them here, that is imported from somewhere, China or somewhere, check the label." "So you don't support a product that you sell with your name on it?" "Well it sounds like you tested everything on it, I can't tell you why you got 2 bad ones. Give me an email address and I'll see if I can find anything to send you."

I never heard from him.

I ended up ordering an A.O. Smith ORM5458, the wires were long enough out of the box, it came with usable mounting hardware, it doesn't vibrate with the same fan on it, draws .3A less power and has been working for 2 weeks now without any issues.
Only last 2.5 years. The original motor lasted 17.5 years. The AC repairman just left after confirming the motor was bad.

Buying the A.O. Smith ORM5458 motor this time.
I can recommend this product and the vendor.
I purchased this to replace a smaller less powerful motor. I had to cut down the mounting screws and the center fan blade shaft to make it fit but that is completely my own fault as I didn't take the dimensions of the previous motor. Despite that, I would purchase it again even under the same circumstances.
Great motor and extremely easy to reverse rotation is needed. Quality as usual from Fasco as I have come to expect. Shaft size is correct and has 2 flats 90 degrees from one another. Mine was band mounted but just as easy to mount using the frame through bolts.
Bought to replace the failed motor in my air handler, and it worked great.
