I am not an licensed HVAC technician, I don't play one on TV but when my compressor would not start on a warm day, I thought to check the capacitor and replace it first before calling in the professionals. There are several different brands for the size I needed (45/5 uF) but this one had the fastest shipping so it was chosen for that reason. When I installed it into the compressor after disconnecting power and taking pictures of how the old one was wired, my compressor came back to life. I gave myself a small pat on the back thinking how I just saved myself at least $250 if I had to call a tech to come out and fix this for me. Being a homeowner is really about being a jack of all trades. These are consumables so it is recommended to keep a spare on hand. Your compressor will always fail on a Saturday on the hottest day of the year. There is no doubt about that.
I rarely write reviews. But I was in a bind, and this product worked, so I thought I should add my experience to the few on here. I ordered 3 capacitors (to get same-day shipping and have spares). Installed one in about two minutes total, and our Trane came back to life. With nearly 100 degree temps outside, it’s easily activated our unit 125+ plus times in the past couple of weeks. No problems thus far. When you know a capacitor is all you need, this beats the hell out of paying a tech $200 for the same part. CAVEATS: I purchased 3 but have only used 1 so far. They all appear identical, however. Also, our unit is old and I know how to diagnose the problem. If you have a newer unit, understand your limitations and the risks you take with this kind of repair. The actual install could be done by a child. But it can be easy to miss a more complex problem with your unit and ultimately do more harm than good. I had a 24 hour deadline to make my own repair, and this was perfect.
After my York YCS36B21SA started to make a loud buzzing noise i cleaned the contactor and no luck. I then read that replacing the capacitor may help. Figured I'd spend the 14 bucks and give this a shot. Sure enough it worked like a champ! My AC is quiet again!!
Of course ours died during the hottest week of the year during Covid times. thankfully it only took three days to get here and it was easily installed and the cooler came back to life. Going to buy a couple more to have on hand.
When my AC compressor quit it was suggested I replace the capacitor before calling AC company. I could have paid more for this item, but took a chance on it. Works great. I know the AC company would have wanted to sell me a compressor, so extremely pleased with product.

This capacitor is used for start-up and operation of AC motors with

Bought this to replace my capacitor in my HVAC. Had to endure two days of no AC while it was being shipped, but installed it as soon as it arrived and or worked perfectly now I have AC again. The dimensions were different than the one I had so it didn't quite fit the same way, nothing some duct tape can't fix.
Ordered Thursday evening... Picked it up Saturday morning... had cold air again by noon...
