It was a perfect fit for my old Carrier A/C. The problem was that the fan motor on the outdoor condenser would not turn on. I could use a stick to spin it and that would start it up, but it would not start by itself. That was a clear sign the Start Capacitor had gone bad. Old capacitor is shown in the picture. The new one fit perfectly and now the A/C works again. Just be careful replacing a capacitor, as they can store enough electricity to hurt or kill you. Only do this job if you know what you are doing.
Hard to screw up something as simple as a capacitor. Glad it has 5-year warranty because I was wary of buying Chinese parts again. I hope it lasts more than the warranted 5 years (last one served 25).

Installation was easy as cake (piece of pie). Duh. Every man should know how to install a simple electrical part.
The capacitor itself was well labeled for the separate circuits and had plenty of prongs for extra wires. Clean product, electrically sound. Just smaller than the original, in all dimensions. Took a small shim in the clamp to keep it tight but no big deal.
My HVAC fan and compressor stopped turning on. I called my home warranty company and they told me they wouldn't be out for 5 days. I couldn't handle 5 days of no AC in Florida! I took to Google and figured out the problem and which capacitor I needed.. Got same day delivery,received and 10 minutes later I had working AC again! It was a direct swap out except for the bracket that mounts it to the unit. I drilled a hole in the bracket to make a tighter fit and good as new. I also bought a backup for the next time the capacitor breaks!
Cheap first thing to try for AC compressor and fan not starting. Very easy to fit. A single screw clamp and a few wires that just plug in after taking the condenser side panel off is all that needs to be done to replace the bad capacitor. A 15 minute job! Bought a second one as a spare replacement. Thoroughly recommended! The only down side was a couple of days in the sweltering heat waiting for Amazon to deliver!
First and foremost nothing compared to central air in July in Louisiana. Well once I realized my unit was not turning on outside I knew the local AC company with the many red trucks was not going to rip me off again. In fact they charged me over $200 to change capacitor last time. With help from the internet I quickly decided to order this item which was very affordable and fixed my A/C in less than 5 mins. I plan to order 2 more as backups because my light company has a big issue with power going off and on just for thundering. Awesome purchase.

This Capacitor is rated for 440 Volts which means it will work at 370 or 440 VAC. It will also run from -40 C. to +70 C. It is safety rated at 10,000 AFC.
A dual run capacitor, such as this 60/5, combines two capacitors into one unit. It will power a compressor motor and a fan motor, and has three terminals on the top. They are labeled "Herm" for the compressor motor, "Fan" for the fan, and "C" for the common line.
Run Capacitors work hand in hand with Electric Motors that power the compressors and condensers that make air conditioning work. For this purpose, the Capacitor works the same way as a battery. It stores and releases a large charge very quickly. This released charge gives the motor the spin it needs to start and run correctly.
As Air Conditioning Capacitors age, they lose their ability to hold a charge and get weaker.
As the capacitor gets older, the motor may get louder and seem to run slower. If replaced before they get weaker, its possible to lengthen the life of the motor. Eventually, the capacitor will get too weak to start the motor and if the motor can't start, it can short out. Timely replacement of the capacitor is essential to Air Conditioning Maintenance.
SAFETY TIPS FOR REPLACEMENT
When replacing a capacitor always be sure to turn off the power to the air conditioning unit and place a screw driver between the terminals of the capacitor to release any stored charge. MaxRun Capacitors are designed to be the correct fit, but it's best to measure the height and width of the capacitor to double check that the replacement unit matches the original. We also recommend keeping a spare so you have one handy when it's needed.
This product is probably exceptional, but didn't fit my application, my mistake. What I will cplain about is Amazon's return process. I used to be able to print a label and drop it in the mailroom at work as the closest UPS store is 30 miles away. Now, I have to pay return shipping to to that. Not worth it for something so cheap.
This is a great product and just does its job beautifully. Fits perfectly when I replaced dual run capacitor for my Lennox HVAC system. Feel so satisfied when I could replace the capacitor for just $10 when RS Andrew’s (local HVAC company) quoted $350.
As the other reviewers have stated, this unit runs like a charm. I see no reason to purchase one at a higher price.
I removed one star on install as the diameter was about 1/4" smaller than the GE unit it replaced. Because of the holder Carrier used I couldn't just tighten down to hold it firm. Other than that I'm back to being cool as a cucumber 😉.
