Fan is over 12 years old and been in 2 houses (so far) but for the last couple of years I have been procrastinated looking into the slow fan speeds that have come about but I've been staying home more to keep away from the Coronacrazys so thought I'd dive into this. None of the box stores had this so of course Amazon to the rescue. First order got lost in the mail so it took a few more days for it's replacement to arrive but took maybe 10 min from start to finish (not counting the quality time spent with the lil). So easy to replace I had my 5 year old daughter do it! All I did was strip the wires and give the final twist on wire connections (not included fyi) wire colors matched perfectly...thanks for helping me revive one of our favorite fans!
Swapped it out, works great!
That's the good news. The bad news is that there was nothing wrong with my fan. I apparently didn't know how to use my remote control on this fan that I purchased from a "Habitat from Humanity" store.
But, even after swapping it out, the fan works like new. So, yes, I feel stupid.
I found THIS Capacitor to be the closest to the three capacitance values on my original Harbor Breeze Baja Ceiling Fan. This was an easy install as I removed my light bulbs and globes then removed the bottom piece and worked on my kitchen table which allowed me to check other wires and connections.
It's truly a good feeling to power-on this repaired fan and see great results !!
Our fan would only go on low speed before. When I took out the old capacitor on our Harbor Breeze fan, I found the capacitor looked fine (no distortions or burn marks) and the markings to be somewhat different. I think it was 4.5uf, 6uf & 6uf, so I was concerned it might not work right. Once I got it back together, it works perfectly, and we have our adjustable fan speed back. Very pleased!
Easy to work with, provided you've done your homework. Installation is easy- if you've played with ceiling fans before. If not, read through and watch a bunch of videos. Everything that *might* go wrong is something that *probably will* go wrong. Not a problem, just saying.
About the product - it was exactly as advertised and brought our ceiling fan back to life. Before you toss or replace your fan, check the capacitor. Super simple fix that will save you a ton of headache. Couldn't be happier with this part of my purchase decision.

This capacitor worked like a charm. I installed this by myself but I recommend having someone standing by if you happen to drop a screw or wire nut onto the floor. The small screws always manage to roll away far from the original drop point. Drop screw, get down from ladder, grab flashlight, then crawl around searching for that infernal screw. What fun. Except for the dropped parts this was easy to install. Take your time and try not to drop those small parts.
Exact capacitor replacement needed for the Harbor Breeze fan. Doesn't get any easier.
I followed the instructions in a youtube video (search for "How to Replace the Capacitor in a Ceiling Fan") and it worked perfectly. Saved me from having to mount a new ceiling fan. Fantastic!
