Unfortunately I cannot write a complete review as this was purchased to replace an emergency no cool call. My friends AC did not start, so I had saved my older condenser when I replaced my whole system. Yep the capacitor from my old unit worked for his(his unit is on borrowed time, therefore no sense in giving him a new cap.). But I have no doubt has to the reliability of my purchase ,exact fit, fast delivery, great price. Thank you & again sorry for an incomplete review.
I am very pleased with product. My heat pump starts and runs better than ever. I believe it starts and runs quieter since capacitor was replaced. Very easy and inexpensive repair.

Description

Did you know that capacitor failure is one of the leading causes of an air conditioner failure?

So what exactly is a dual capacitor? Dual capacitors come in a variety of sizes, depending on the capacitance (measured in microfarads, µF), such as 40 plus 5 µF, and also on the voltage. A Dual Capacitor is an electrical component that stores energy (kind of like a battery), it is connected into your Air Conditioning condensing unit and as the condensing units runs to cool the home, the capacitor is storing up energy for the next unit start. Once the condensing unit calls to start the capacitor sends a high voltage blast that can range from 400-600 volts to the compressor and the condenser fan motor, this high voltage blast is what's needed for your HVAC unit to start properly, it basically gives your compressor and motor a spin boost, once the units is running the capacitor will begin storing energy for the next cooling cycle.

A dual capacitor has three terminal points

C – Common usually this will be a brown wire.
FAN – For the Condenser Fan Motor.
HERM – Compressor Terminal.

To test a capacitor you will need a multimeter, set your multimeter to uF or MFD mode and check between each terminal, C to HERM and C to FAN, if you are not reading what the capacitor is rated for your capacitor is no longer working. Sometimes you can visually see that the capacitor has failed, they usually bulge up at the top head or are leaking this gooey looking mixture, this is the Dielectric material inside.

Here are some signs your capacitor may be going or is already bad.

Humming Noise coming from the Air Conditioning condenser but nothing actually on and running.
Bulge coming from the top head or top sides.
The capacitor is leaking a Gooey like substance.
