The rooftop AC unit on my Casita travel trailer was not working properly -- the fan would not operate in any of the switch positions. A google search suggested the fan capacitor could be the problem; a YouTube video described the testing and replacement procedure in a manner which seemed doable by me. As I'd already done other work on the AC unit (installed an EasyStart module and replaced the shroud), I ordered the part without testing the existing capacitor (low price for replacement vs time to disassemble, test, reassemble). The actual replacement took about 15 minutes and the fan now works again, which enables the heating and cooling functions. Good to go!
When I have my semi annual HVAC system checks performed, I receive a summary of the system's health and needs. Sometimes it's nothing more than a good cleaning that is needed and other times parts may be needed soon. When caoicitors are recommended, I get the details, order them from Amazon and install them myself. These Power Well capacitors were perfect replacements for the two which were beginning to fail. Since you should be able to expect what the product specifications call out this is what I expected to receive and the product, Amazon merchant and Amazon earn three stars. When my expectations are met three stars are awarded. When I experience disappointing results from a purchase stars are removed and when I'm pleasantly surprised stars are added.
I'm so glad this part was available! My 31 year old air conditioner stopped working last year during a 100 degree heat wave. Fuses and circuit breakers seemed to be okay. I was about to call an A/C repair company, but it was the weekend when emergency service calls cost more.

Then I searched the internet and discovered that a capacitor could be bad. What's a capacitor? Didn't know. So I took the lid off the A/C and was surprised that the existing capacitor was near the top inside and easily accessible. With just two simple wires connected. And then I was super surprised to find this capacitor for sale that appeared to meet the same specifications.

After I received it, it was super easy to install. And that fixed this old air conditioner. That sure saved a lot of $ verses a $100+ service call. And prevented a possible several thousand $$$ upsale to replace the old A/C.
My HVAC condenser fan wouldn't spin, so I used a small stick to manually spin the fan to get it started and that worked until I could get the right parts to fix it. It's an old Rheem unit and was built in 1983. The HVAC repair guys want me to buy a new unit. I initially replaced my Start Capacitor, but it did not fix the issue. While I was replacing it, I noticed the Run Capacitor was bulging slightly on the top, so I ordered it. That fixed the problem and now it works perfectly. I ordered this one because it is Made In The USA. I paid a little more, but I am very happy with it. Mine arrived in a bubble envelope mailer, in a small cardboard box, and then wrapped in a static free bag. It's an easy fix, but I cannot stress the importance of being safe. If you have any doubts or concerns, please hire a professional and insist on using replacement parts made in the USA.
My old Capacitor got wet from condensation dripping on it. As a result it smoked and was catching fire when furnace kicked in. This cap fixed that in 5 minute install.

Description

A capacitor is an electric component that temporarily stores an electrical charge. A "run capacitor" supports electric motors, such as in air conditioner or heat pump units, a fan motor and a compressor motor. The capacitor has two terminals.
Capacitors come in a variety of sizes, depending on the capacitance (µF or MFD), such as 40 plus 5 µF, and also the voltage. A 440 volt capacitor can be used in place of a 370 volt, as it is build better, but the 370 can’t be used in place of a 440 volt. It will work for a while and will fail prematurely, as exceeding the capacitor's rated voltage will cause the dielectric to break down and the capacitor to short out. Same as an electric wire- 600V rated wire is better than 300V one .The capacitance(µF or MFD) must be the same or stay within 10%+ or 5%- of its original value . Example: 50 µF cap can be substituted by 47.5 to 55 µF with the same or better voltage ratings capacitor . Round oval-shaped run capacitors are commonly used for air conditioning, to help in the starting of the compressor and the condenser fan motor.
You will ask “Why I need a Cap that is rated 440V in my A/C?”
Answer: You need to realize that a motor is an inductive device. When the supply voltage is applied to the motor run winding, the voltage across the start winding will be increased to a higher voltage value. A motor acts like a transformer with the run winding acting as the primary and the start winding acting as the secondary. This is why the capacitor has a much higher voltage rating than the 230 being the supply voltage.
If a Capacitor is not EIA-456-A approved means it is not approved for US market.

7.5 Mf is the same spec cap that came with the replacement motor (1/3 hp) I bought 5 years ago. Unit just buzzed and cutout. Reset unit and used a stick (while buzzing) to start the fan spinning (ccw for Rheem) which indicated a bad cap. Used the stick to start fan while waiting for one day delivery.
Good value. Great fix for my air conditioner. The only issue is that most "caps" come with at least one terminal marked with a "+" positive side. This doesn't. It didn't matter. It worked perfectly. I would buy again.
This product saved my life heat went out just at the start of the winter here in michigan so it was getting cold. The heating and cooling guy wanted 200dollars for just a part and to put in on well did my reserch and found what i needed to fix my furnace and it was so easy to install all you need is a screw driver
