Put this in an older carrier unit, old fan was just buzzing and not turning, I replaced the capacitor a month or so ago and worked for a while then stopped, so bought another new capacitor and the new fan motor , replaced them both and started right up. The wiring was slightly different, the 2 browns go to the capacitor were the same, and the back and white are power, hooked black to black and white to the yellow from the unit... the capacitor wiring is with the writing on it facing you the brown/white goes in the right and on the right prong, the solid brown goes on the left side right prong again... taped them up separately and zip tied all the wiring and capacitor up nice and neat. Taped the power wires also... hardest thing was getting the fan blade off the old motor lol, ended up getting the angle grinder and grinding down the drive shaft and put lube in it and finally got it off... also had to cut down the new drive shaft some , I left about 3.5 inches on the motor and worked fine...
I bought this fan motor as a replacement for a Carrier Compressor because of the affordable price and one-day free shipping with Amazon. What I wish I knew before the installation: The Packard motor has 4 wires instead of 3 (cut the brown/white wire), and instead of blue, yellow and brown, you get to work with black, white and brown wires that you must first add connections to the ends of the wires in order to fasten them to the capacitor and core (the wire lengths were adequate). Additionally, this fan is bi-directional, and I had to switch the connection so the fan would blow the air up and out. You also get to attach a green grounding wire. What could have been 30 minutes took me 75... but all in all, I was successful. Thanks for the great deal, Amazon and Packard, and I hope this feedback is useful to future buyers!
Yes, it's made in China. It looks very good. Definitely not a cheap motor. It got delivered a day early. Amazing. The shaft is half inch with double flats. Mounting studs are 5 1/4" space. It uses a separate 5 uF run capacitor, not a dual capacitor. Not the same as the unit I'm replacing but looks much better. Move the mounting holes slightly and add a capacitor. If it lasts 30 years like the old one I'll let you know.
good - Fan motor completed first season successfully.
Instructions are OK for motor skilled person.

Bad - Internal connection information on motor are incorrect. Do not believe them. connect motor as instructed.
I think there were a slight amperage difference like .7 which is pretty small between this and my original. I waited it out a few months to write this review so I would not be endorsing something that broke immediately. Works great.

Stated in notes was usa made,box and motor both stated made in china needed it for a elderly friend so installed so far working ok
Came as described, not my first rodeo so knew what to do as far as install. Just first time to order one on amazon. Worked once installed, no problems
Great product!
Good replacement for a/c cooling condenser. Some few modification for mounting the motor, strong motor than my old motor.
Works perfect. Need to be somewhat mechanically inclined.
